Tibet Advocacy Week 2021

A week-long “Tibet Advocacy week” was undertaken by the Tibet Advocacy Coalition of Gu Chu Sum Movement Association of Tibet, National Democratic Party of Tibet, and Students for a Free Tibet – India at New Delhi from 9 – 15 November 2021.

Coinciding with the ongoing winter session of the Indian Parliament, the Tibet Advocacy Group met with the Members of Parliament from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. With a growing momentum internationally for a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing 2022 Olympics, a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing 2022 Olympics by India was called upon by highlighting the deteriorating Human Rights situation inside Tibet, Tibetan Political prisoners, Tibet’s Climate Crisis, and the security threat to India with recent border aggression by China.

The Tibet Advocacy Coalition met with Co-Chair Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, former MP and current MLA of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Ninong Ering Ji; Member of Parliament from Meghalaya, Shri Vincent H Pala Ji; Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal Ji; Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh, Shri Suresh Kumar Kashyap Ji; Member of Parliament from Bihar, Shri B.N. Singh Ji; Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Tapir Gao Ji; Member of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh, Shri Ganesh Singh Ji; Member of Parliament from Himachal Pradesh Shri Kishan Kapoor Ji; Honourable Minister of Law and Justice of Government of India, Shri Kiren Rijiju Ji.

The team was also able to submit an appeal letter to the Prime Minister Office of India. Appeal letters were also submitted to embassies of Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Germany, France, and Spain.
