2022 Genocide Olympics, No Beijing 2022 winter Olympics

The Gu Chu Sum Movement Association of Tibet, along with four other Dharamsala-based NGOs marked a one-year countdown to the Beijing 2022 winter Olympics with a press conference followed by a street protest at the Mcleod Ganj Square.

The press conference, broadcasted live through social media platforms was read in four different languages, beginning at 9 am in the morning. Gyalthang Rinpoche, General Secretary of the organization, and Mr. Pema Tsewang (staff) attended the event. General Secretary Gyalthang Rinpoche delivered the press statement in the Chinese Language while Mr. Pema Tsewang took charge of the live casting of the conference through the organization’s social media handles. Headed by the President of the organization Mr. Ngawang Trirel, Mr. Dawa Tashi (Vice President of the organization) along with Ms. Tsewang Wangmo and Phuntsok Tashi took part in the organization of the street protest at the Main Square, Mcleod Ganj.

The protest against the upcoming winter Olympics games to be held in Beijing in 2022 was reflected through five blood-stained dummies hanging inside each interlocking five Olympic rings; each dummies representing the oppressed nations and territories under China: Tibet, East- Turkestan, Southern Mongolia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Representational images of Xi Jinping with a bloody hand offering a handshake to the International Olympics Committee chief summed up the protest and the feelings of those struggling and striving for justice under China around the world, particularly those represented by the Dummies inside the Olympics rings. The press conference and the street protest received much attention from the press and media, along with locals and tourists in the area.
