Ngawang Gelek, a senior member of the Gu Chu Sum Movement Association of Tibet passed away on 16 November 2021 at his residence in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala. He was from Chagra Palbar, Kham, Tibet. He was arrested and imprisoned following the participation in Tibetan uprisings in 1959 against the illegal occupation of Tibet by China.
