Today, on the International Day of the Disappeared, the Gu Chu Sum Movement Association of Tibet demands the immediate release of all the Tibetan political prisoners that were arrested by the Chinese authorities and have disappeared since and, stop the practice of enforced disappearance that continue under the hard-line policy of the communist government.
We would also like to call on the Chinese government to release Tibet’s kidnapped Panchen Lama Gedun Choe kyi Nyima and Jhadrel Rinpoche, who was assigned to recognize the reincarnate of the 10th Panchen lama.
The Panchen Lama is Tibet’s second-highest religious figure, second only to the Dalai Lama. The two have played a key role in identifying each other’s reincarnation.
China has repeatedly ignored international pressure to release the Panchen Lama or disclose information about his well-being or whereabouts for the last 26 years.
We seek support from the international community, head of the states, and every individual to put pressure on the Chinese government for the release of all the Tibetan political prisoners, particularly the 11th Panchen Lama and Jhadrel Rinpoche.
