TIBETAN NGOS AND ACTIVISTS JOIN GLOBAL ‘NO BEIJING 2022’ PROTESTS MARKING ONE MONTH COUNTDOWN TO GENOCIDE BEIJING OLYMPIC.

Dharamsala, 4th Jan 2022: Tibetan NGOs join rights activists representing Tibet, EastTurkistan, Hong Kong, Southern Mongolia, China and Taiwan as part of a joint Global day of action [1], marking one month countdown to Genocide Bejing Olympic. The NoBeijing 2022 Global Day of Action is a day of international solidarity among Chinese human rights defenders, Tibetans, Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, Southern Mongolians, and Taiwanese, to show their global opposition to the 2022 Games due to threat posed by the CCP to the colonized countries and communities living under its rule, and for freedom, democracy, and human rights in China and globally. Activists and their supporters are calling on governments, Olympic Committees, Olympic Sponsors and all people of conscience to take a stand against one of the worst human rights crises of our time by boycotting the 2022 Beijing Winter Games.

The situation in Tibet has deteriorated dramatically and is classed by Freedom House as the least-free country in the world, tied with Syria;[2] In East Turkistan (Ch: Xinjiang) between 1.8 and three million Uyghurs and other Turkic people are arbitrarily detained in “re-education camps,” enduring inhuman treatment and political indoctrination;[3] In Hong Kong, the city’s vibrant community of human rights activists and outspoken youths have been rounded up by the thousands for simply advocating for democracy;[4] in Southern Mongolia, children are being deprived of their right to speak their mother tongue, as the Chinese government has intensified its crackdown on cultural differences. China’s reach extends to extreme intimidation and geopolitical bullying of Taiwan and aggression and expansion across borders in the South China Sea and India-Tibet border, which present a clear threat to regional and global security.

For two decades representatives of the coalition have repeatedly sought to inform the IOC about these conditions, explaining the dangers of awarding China the Olympic Games, and caution against accepting any human rights assurances from one of the world’s worst human rights violators.[5]

The Chinese government accelerated policies that reduce Tibetans as a proportion of the population and undermine their cultural and religious identity in 2020. The implementation of the “2019-2020 Farmer and Pastoralist Training and Labor Transfer Action Plan” continued, forcing tens of thousands of additional Tibetan farmers and nomads to give up their land rights, become wage laborers, and move to urban areas where they are crowded into large apartment blocks.

As International Olympic Committee completely fails to take action despite clear evidences of genocide, widespread and worsening human rights failures, we would like to urge governments to openly call for a boycott of the 2022 Beijing olympics. The boycott can be used by governments and the international community as a way to build pressure on China to take positive, tangible steps to end the overwhelming human rights situation.

As of this moment, the United States, Lithuania, New Zealand, Scotland, Belgium, Taiwan, Australia, UK, Canada, and Kosovo have officially announced a diplomatic boycott of the Genocide Games. Its high time India as the largest democratic country in the world should join the momentum and atleast call for Diplomatic Boycott of genocide game 2022 and counterbalance China and let China know that India won’t stay silent to the human rights atrocities and stand with justice.

WE call on governments to commit to the boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games to ensure they are not used to embolden the Chinese government’s appalling rights abuses and crackdowns on dissent.
