Ngawang Gelek, a senior member of the Gu Chu Sum Movement Association of Tibet passed away on 16 November 2021 at his residence in Mcleodganj, Dharamshala. He was from Chagra Palbar, Kham, Tibet. He was arrested and imprisoned following the participation in Tibetan uprisings in 1959 against the illegal occupation of Tibet by China. Prior to a week of his passing, he was admitted to Delek Hospital after slight discomfort and was immediately discharged without any serious diagnosis. Ngawang Gelek was supported by the organization through its senior member stipends program and meals through our community kitchen. The executive members and staff have assisted through the cremation and rituals following his sad demise. He was cremated at five in the morning on 18 November 2021. We remember him for his unwavering spirit for Tibet and pray for his swift rebirth in the land of snows.
